This referee training camp is designed for the new or less experienced on ice hockey official. It will focus on the basic mechanics of officiating such as positioning on the ice, sight-lines, icing, off-sides, calling of goals, physical condition and health, skating techniques of referees, and a basic review of rules of the game.
This camp includes 2 three and a half hour sessions in the classroom learning from facilitators and instructors. Classes meet at our training classroom located at our office at 340 Commerce Way in Pembroke, NH. The classroom sessions will include facilitated discussions, the use of training videos, and break out sessions for group work and study.
This is followed by 2 one hour ice sessions which are held at the Tritown Ice Arena in Hooksett, NH. The ice sessions will focus on the mechanics of skating as a hockey referee as well as re-enforce the positioning to make off-sides and icing calls. Students will work with on ice instructors during drills to sharpen face-offs and puck dropping techniques.
Even if you are a referee and have been for a year or two, you can benefit greatly from this camp and the instructors who facilitate it.
